State Health Access Reform Evaluation (SHARE) is National Program Office of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation created to support evaluations of health policy reform at the state level and to develop an evidence-based resource to inform future state health reform efforts. Developed in response to increased state activity in discussing and passing legislation to improve health care access, SHARE will:
- help develop a coordinated approach to the evaluation of current state health reform,
- identify and fill gaps in research, and
- organize and disseminate of findings in a manner that is meaningful and user-friendly for state policy makers, state agencies, and researchers.
The project aims to provide evidence to state policy makers on the specific mechanisms that contribute to successful state health reform efforts. The SHARE Program began in December 2006 and will run four years, awarding $7 million in grant funding over that term.
The program operates out of the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC), an RWJF-supported research center in the Division of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health, University of Minnesota.
