August 2005: The 2005 California Health Interview Survey (CHIS) went into the field on July 11 and completion is anticipated in December. Conducted every two years by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, the telephone survey provides the most comprehensive overview of health issues among the state's diverse population. Currently, a marketing effort is underway to encourage the public to participate. "Take the Call" flyers are being distributed in five languages (English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese) encouraging individuals to participate in this confidential survey if they are called.
